During 2021, I was asked by the Swedish Institute in Istanbul and exhibition hall Depo to create one or more works based on The Women's Library and Information Centre's collections together with Safak Sule Kemanci, an artist based in Istanbul. The project aimed to highlight Turkish women's history and form artistic connections between Sweden and Turkey.
In the search we found Kenan Cinili, a transperson who between 1937-38 wrote a column about his life in one of Turkey's largest national dailies.
The works were exhibited at Depo, Istanbul, 2022 and presented at Tensta Konsthall in November 2022.
